Delhi retains four players, no place for Shreyas, Dhawan or Avesh

Even though the team has not made any official announcement, however, according to many reports, the team is all set to retain Rishabh Pant as the captain of the team and Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje as three other players. The fans of the team are having mixed emotions and are confused as well and here’s exactly why they are!

The exclusion of Shreyas Iyer and the inclusion of Axar Patel make no sense. Specially when they could have had Avesh Khan for 4cr as he is yet to debut for the country. We understand that the players might not have agreed to play in that amount as that’s why Axar Patel became an obvious choice but yet that makes no sense as Capitals have so many options in their hand.

The fans are also very disappointed to see Iyer leave Capitals. The former captain took Delhi to the finals of the Indian T20 League in the 2020 season and in the very next season Rishabh was appointed as the captain as the Mumbai based cricketer was injured. When he came back, Shreyas never got his role back and now he won’t be a part of the squad.

The player who made a century in his debut test match will be in the radar of many teams going forward. A lot of teams like Bangalore, Kolkata, Punjab and the two new teams will be looking for a new captain and Shreyas could be the perfect choice for them. Thus, it is expected that the Mumbai based cricketer will go for a lot of money in the mega auction and it’s very likely that he will be captaining a side in the upcoming season.

The exclusion of Dhawan means that the left hander will create a lot of havoc in the auction table if two new teams don't take him beforehand. Dhawan is a proven T20 batsman and teams will welcome him with open hands.

None of us can wait for the upcoming auction where so many things will change and we will see players jumping ships. Dear January, please come soon!
